Why We Sing
That's Why I
Sing Gospel Music
(Words & Music by David Staton / Soppy Choppy Music BMI)
Verse 1 |
People wonder why I sing in church
every Sunday |
They tell me different songs in other places make alot more
money |
But no amount of fame or fortune could ever make me change |
because 'amazing grace how sweet the sound' still changes lives
today
Chorus |
That's why I sing gospel music
|
It's not just words & melody there's much more to it |
Just to see a tear fall down the face |
of a sinner that's been saved by grace |
That's why I sing gospel music
Verse 2 |
There is coming a day when every saint from every nation
|
will lift their voice around the throne of God in a glorious
celebration |
And every soul I win for Jesus is one more voice in that great
choir |
And we'll sing "worthy is the Lamb" as we lift Jesus higher
Chorus |
That's why I sing gospel music
|
It's not just words & melody there's much more to it |
Just to see a tear fall down the face |
of a sinner that's been saved by grace |
That's why I sing gospel music
Bridge |
When we gather 'round the King of Kings
|
and sing songs the angels can not sing |
That's why I sing gospel music
As Christians, we believe the
Bible is the true, infallible Word of God. That means that
whether you choose to believe it or not, does not change the
fact that it is true. God has given us musical ability, so we
use that as a means to deliver the truth of God's word. Our
single purpose as Christians is for God to be glorified because
of who He is and what He did to bridge the gap between us and
Him. Jesus said, "If I be lifted up I will draw all men to
Myself" (John 12:32). The words to the second verse of this song
refers to a verse in the Bible (Revelation 5:11-14) where it
describes a scene in heaven that will take place after life on
earth as we know it is over. Those who have been adopted into
the family of God through their faith in Jesus, being cleansed
by the blood He shed on the cross will be gathered around the
throne of God and the greatest concert that has ever been will
begin to take place.
Here is how what we do now affects what will take place then;
Simply put, the bigger the choir, the better, more powerful
praise that will take place. We want that choir in heaven to be
so big that it lifts Jesus higher and higher because He is
worthy of the best. We are simply recruiting choir members for
that awesome event!
I believe that if you are reading this, God has directed you
here and it is no accident. God wants you in that choir. It is
His desire that you live with Him in heaven forever when life on
earth is over. But your relationship with God doesn't just start
when you get to heaven, it starts right now! How incredible is
it to know that the God of the universe knows everything about
you, loves you and wants you to know Him and communicate with
Him on such a personal level? (John 3:16) So, how can you know
Him and make sure that you will be in that choir and know beyond
a shadow of a doubt that heaven will forever be your home? I'm
glad you asked, because it's as easy as ABC.
A -
Admit that you are a sinner in need of a Savior. (Romans
3:23) "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God".
The Bible also tells us that since we are sinners, that the
wages of sin, or what we deserve for our sin, is death. (Romans
6:23)
B -
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.
(Acts 16:31) You must believe and trust in the fact that Jesus
was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, became the ultimate
sacrifice by willingly dying on the cross in our place so that
we could have a relationship with Him. He rose from the dead on
the third day and very soon He will return to take us to heaven
with Him. Hollywood can continue to produce movies that make
people doubt those facts, they are not the first to try to
discredit the Bible, but it still doesn't change the facts and
the truth. If you place your faith and trust in the truth, the
Bible says that when you call upon the name of the Lord, you
will be saved! If you are at this point of realization, pray a
prayer similar to this;
Dear Lord,
I know and admit that I am a sinner. I realize that what you did
on the cross was for me. I believe you are the son of God and
I'm asking you to take the slate of my life with all of my sins
that have messed it up and with your blood, wipe it clean.
Forgive me of all my sins and live in my heart. I'm giving you
full control of my life and I'm asking you to make my heart and
mind sensitive to your voice and leadership all the days of my
life. Thank you not only for putting my name in the book of
Life, reserving my place in heaven, but for allowing me to have
a personal, everyday relationship with You. Thank you for saving
me. In Jesus name, Amen!
C -
Confess. If you sincerely prayed a prayer similar to this
one and meant it, the Bible instructs you to do something else.
Tell someone! (Romans 10:9) "If you confess with your mouth
Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him
from the dead, you WILL be saved".

FACT over FEELING - Many people trust in their feelings more
than fact and truth. If you felt the Spirit of God convicting
you of your sins and drawing you to Himself and you prayed this
prayer and meant it, I can guarantee you that God saved you, in
fact, God Himself guarantees it. (1 John 1:9) "If we confess our
sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness". It says nothing about
feeling a lightning bolt when you make this commitment, it is
just a simple promise from God Himself! We encourage you to tell
people about your commitment and start going to a church that
teaches God's word so that you will become even stronger in your
faith.
